Archers with hands only apply pressure at two points: At the near end of the arrow, and the front of the bow. Wouldn't Twilight's telekinetic magic only need to be in contact with those two points, and not the whole entire bow and arrow?
Twilight is holding up the entire bow at the same time with her magic, therefore she needs to surround it entirely with her magic. If she were just shooting a bow, then she probably would only really need to hold those two parts.
I see your point, but archers still are able to hold up bows at two points. Think of this example: To pick up a sword, a unicorn might use their magic to only hold the handle, or they might use their magic to envelop the entire sword and lift it that way. Both methods work. I'm just saying, I don't think Twilight needs to "magic" the entire bow and arrow set.
Yeah, maybe she could do that, however I figure that fully "magicing" it allows her more control over the entire bow. Remember in one episode (I can't remember which) Twilight grabbed Rainbow Dash's tail mane thingie (wow I'm descriptive) and Rainbow Dash's body fell with gravity. So for full control it might be better because the part she doesn’t “magic” is completely free to be pulled by gravity.
I can't spell anything, which is funny because in the third grade I was top of my class when it came to spelling. Personal note aside, names I have a real difficulty with because spell check doesn't know those names so it can't correct them. So don't even bother asking me how to spell the Changeling Queen's name or this guy's
